Strategic human resource management has emerged as the most favourable proposition for businesses as it provides a comprehensive framework for HR practices to be aligned to organisational strategies. To achieve this, many management specialists support the resource based view (RBV) of the firm as it provides competitive advantage in strategic sense. However, practical implications of RBV on managerial functions such as selection, development, combination and deployment of resources experience certain challenges which questions RBV’s status as the backdrop of SHRM.
